Hi there, I see you're considering a RAM setup for your build. Based on what you shared, it sounds like you're looking to upgrade from your current configuration. Your Asus ROG Strix GT35 has a 16 GB RAM module already installed, and you're thinking about adding more to reach around 3 cards total. You mentioned wanting to use faster CAS speeds, which is a good point—modern CPUs benefit from higher CAS latency. Make sure the new RAM matches the system clock (usually 2400 MHz for your Z490-E) and supports DDR4/DDR5 as needed. If you're planning to add two more sticks, check if your motherboard supports dual-channel operation and whether the slots are compatible. It might be worth verifying the exact specifications of the RAM you find online to ensure compatibility. Good luck with your build!

it’s not completely clear what you’re asking, but yes, with two sticks and an additional two sticks, it usually works well about 99%. just ensure they’re paired correctly. also keep in mind your speed will be limited by the slowest stick, and matching CAS latencies can improve performance.

You can add the two 16GB sticks together as long as they share the same clock frequency. If their CAS speeds differ, ensure both are compatible with your system for optimal performance. Removing the single stick first might be simpler if you're unsure about compatibility.

if you are going to add 2x16, you can always try to add it to the existing and see if the MOBO takes it, but otherwise, yeah, just pull it and live with 32. I had 2x8 and added 2x16 and the only drawback is the 2400 vs 2666 speed.
