Seeking PC Upgrade Suggestions (Budget $200-$400)
Hello everyone,
I’m working with a PC that has these specifications:
Motherboard: ASUS PRIME Z370-P
RAM: 8 GB DDR4
CPU: Intel Core i3-8100 (3.60 GHz)
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1060 3GB
Storage: 120 GB SSD + 1 TB HDD
I’m aiming for a modest upgrade within a budget of $200 to $400, focusing on replacing specific components rather than a full overhaul. My goal is to improve performance without major changes. Could you suggest which parts to prioritize first? I think the CPU and GPU might be candidates, but I’m not very technical and want to know what would give the best results for my money. Also, does my motherboard support newer GPUs, or would I need a different one?
Thank you for your help!
It seems you're seeking information similar to an 8400+ result on the used market, recommending at least 16GB RAM, and suggesting a newer GPU based on power supply and age.
Check the link in my profile and provide the relevant details. Also, please share the power supply's make and model.
Hello everyone,
I’m planning to upgrade my PC with these details:
• Motherboard: MSI LGA1151 Z370 SLI PLUS
• RAM: Crucial DDR4 2400 MHz 8GB Kit
• CPU: Intel Core i3-8100 (3.60 GHz)
• GPU: Nvidia GTX 1060 3GB
• Storage: Kingston SSDNow UV400 120GB + 1TB HDD
• PSU: CoolerMaster MasterWatt 500W
I want to make noticeable performance gains with little change, staying within a $200–$400 budget. My aim is improved gaming, targeting around 144 FPS, plus smooth multitasking and software use.
Which components should I focus on? I think the CPU and GPU could see upgrades, but I’m not very technical and want to know where the biggest benefits lie. Should I also consider a newer GPU or stick with what I have?
Appreciate any advice on the best upgrades for my situation!
