Seeking improvements in audio production equipment
Hey there! I've been using my R5 3600 for nearly a year now, mainly for audio production. As I take on bigger projects, I sometimes notice it struggles under heavier plugin loads. On most channels, it gets stuck at 100% and causes delays between clicking play and the actual audio coming through. That's why I'm considering an upgrade. I want to keep my current hardware since it handles things smoothly without constant strain. I've been checking out the 5600 and 5700G models—they're both on sale and affordable at first. Do you have any other suggestions? Also, I'm not sure if the 5600 is enough for such a big jump; I'm still figuring it out. Anyone here who's run a lot of WAVES SSL strip instances knows something?
Your motherboard setup is important—if it were mine, I’d want at least double the cores and four extra threads if the 3600 runs at full capacity. A 5900x/5950x configuration would be ideal, though it depends on your specific hardware. Also, more memory in your apps can help performance, depending on what you’re running.
Only about 3 to 4 gigabits of RAM is used at most. I'm testing it on a B450 board, especially with the Aorus Pro Wi-Fi.
