Hello, I recently purchased a new computer with an i7-8700k processor and a GTX 1070 graphics card, along with 16GB of DDR4 RAM. I’m experiencing some issues while playing Counter-Strike. Just two days ago, the game performed flawlessly, but now when I encounter enemies and begin firing, the gameplay becomes jerky—I can barely manage my spray pattern. My frame rate consistently remains above 300, and I have a 144Hz monitor. However, I occasionally encounter brief, random freezes of approximately one second while moving around the map. What are your thoughts on this?

Software updates typically shouldn't present difficulties (I’m optimistic, though it’s uncertain). Audio might be an issue, but I suspect not. My initial concern is the Nvidia graphics driver.

The potential problem stems from when you last updated your GeForce drivers, as they recently implemented FreeSync compatibility – this could be introducing instability. Isn't it still early stages?

If you’ve recently installed or allowed GeForce Experience to install the newest drivers for your graphics card, then consider reverting to an older version.

Here’s what to do:

1. https://www.geforce.com/drivers
Enter the necessary information and download the second oldest driver, or if you recall your previous driver version, utilize that one.

2. Secondly, use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to remove the drivers. Install it within regular Windows, then boot into Safe Mode to execute the program and completely eliminate the Nvidia drivers. Afterwards, install the driver you…

Have you recently refreshed your graphics card drivers (using Windows + Nvidia)?

Check your system’s temperatures using programs such as MSI Afterburner or HWINFO to verify that your components aren't being limited by excessive heat.

It would be helpful if you could provide additional information about your computer, including the GPU manufacturer, motherboard model, storage drives, power supply unit, and other relevant specifications.

Thank you!

The graphics card is a Gigabyte G1 Gaming, the motherboard is a Gigabyte Aorus H370 Gaming WiFi 3, I have a Seagate Barracuda HDD, and the power supply unit is an Njoy 750W.

Since your last update, have you modified your GeForce driver using the Geforce Experience application to alter settings or install a new version? Or have you adjusted any configurations in Windows or Nvidia Control Panel? If you’ve made alterations to improve Windows performance, please verify those changes again to confirm that subsequent Windows updates haven’t undone them. I can't identify another cause if your system was operating without issue in the past 24 hours and now is experiencing problems; it’s likely due to software-related changes, or a previously unnoticed issue that has now become apparent.

I’ve made some changes, but I’m not sure if a powerful computer will easily run Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. I don't know for sure unless it’s obtained online because my frame rate is only 300.

Recent system updates, including audio enhancements and the newest NVIDIA driver, along with adjustments made in the control panel for performance settings, have led me to notice an odd sensation during gameplay when firing at opponents—the game feels unusual without a decrease in frames per second.

Software updates generally shouldn't lead to difficulties (I certainly hope so, you never can be certain). Audio might present an issue, but I doubt it. My initial concern is regarding your Nvidia graphics drivers.

Considering that Nvidia recently incorporated Freesync compatibility, it’s possible this new feature is triggering problems. Is this a relatively recent development for you?

If you’ve recently updated or permitted GeForce Experience to install the latest drivers for your card, I recommend reverting to a previous version.

Here’s what you can try:

1. Visit https://www.geforce.com/drivers and input your details to download the second oldest driver, or if you recall which version you were using previously, use that one.

2. Alternatively, employ Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove your Nvidia drivers. Download and install DDU within standard Windows, then initiate a boot into Safe Mode to execute the program and thoroughly remove all Nvidia driver files. Following this, install the driver you downloaded.

+ Or, you may wish to test Nvidia’s custom clean installation method before utilizing DDU.

If you are utilizing GeForce Experience, I strongly suggest avoiding its use as it often introduces more complications than benefits.

I appreciate that. I installed version 417.22 and it's functioning correctly now, as if it were the very first time.
