Hello everyone! My younger brother is looking to improve his computer system and wants to make an investment due to his high school job.
Here’s his current configuration:
ASRock H97M Pro 4 Motherboard
Intel Pentium G3258 Processor
Radeon R7 260x OC 2GB Graphics Card
8GB G-Skill Rip-Jaw RAM
I'm seeking suggestions for upgrades to enhance performance. I believe the CPU is currently the limiting factor. He enjoys playing games such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Rocket League, and others; he also plans to begin streaming in the future. Should he invest in a minor upgrade now and create a secondary workstation, or could his existing system be sufficient for his goals?
Thank you for your expertise and advice.

Uncertain about finances, but a pre-owned 4790(k) is an option. Adding a more powerful graphics card (like a 570 or 580) would create a strong gaming system for the games listed. Alternatively, a 4690(k) would perform similarly in those particular titles. Consider purchasing the processor used; the GPU’s performance can vary depending on whether you locate a secondhand 1060, 480, 570, or 580 that meets your needs.

Regarding a PC build:

A pre-owned 4790(k) processor and an upgraded graphics card (like a 570 or 580) would create a powerful gaming system for those titles. Alternatively, a 4690(k) could perform very similarly. Consider purchasing the CPU used; the graphics card has more variability – a used 1060, 480, 570, or 580 would also be suitable if you find one that meets your needs.

Excellent! That’s precisely what I needed. Thank you for sharing your insights.
