He wanted me to repair and upgrade his old desktop PC. He needs something better than his current laptop but doesn’t want to spend too much right now. He already has some parts like RAM, case, and GPU, so he’s considering adding more memory and a new processor. He’s thinking about getting a better power supply and maybe an M.2 SSD, which means he’ll need a compatible motherboard. For the best choice of RAM, he should pick something that supports upgrading later, ideally with LGA 1151 connectors.

Your dad will likely use the PC for basic tasks. He might install an Optiplex with a 3770, add a 570 or 1650 drive depending on availability, and it should suffice unless he prefers a tailored setup. As for budget, it should be reasonable.

I think the Ryzen 3 3200G works well. Since the graphics card is built into the chip, there’s no need for a separate one. At $85.00, I’d opt for a motherboard in the 500 MB range to ensure it can handle future upgrades.

B450 is compatible with Zen 3, while Zen 4 will not work with it (PGA 1331).

Hey, thanks for the tips. I was actually checking for a motherboard that supports my current 8400 and could also accommodate a CPU upgrade later.
