My current performance is at 1333Mhz, but I’m having trouble locating it now. I’m considering upgrading to an 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz module, which is widely available and more affordable than the 1333Mhz option. The main concern is whether this change will still function properly given the speed difference. It seems the higher-speed RAM should adjust to match the 1333Mhz system, though performance gains are typically limited to around 3%. I’m planning to increase my RAM to 16GB since 8GB feels too restrictive for newer games. Would it be acceptable to sacrifice some speed for better stability and compatibility?

Typically, the least efficient component sets the overall RAM performance. Therefore, your system will operate at 1333, which I think is the standard configuration for DDR3.

He should note the price difference between 1333Mhz and 1600Mhz DDR3 RAM. He’d likely choose the 1600Mhz model for better performance, even though his current setup uses a 1333Mhz stick.
