If you're driving a wheel and seeking an excellent sim experience, Assetto Corsa is a strong choice. It's still in early access, so it won't have all the features yet, but it's quite affordable at the moment. I frequently play many sims, and right now it's my top pick for driving enjoyment. For maximum excitement, iRacing works well, though it can be expensive and quite harsh. Project Cars is also a solid sim, but you'll need to wait until the full release before joining the beta.
If you're looking for something beyond GT to start with Sims, consider Race 07. It might feel a bit old-school, but it runs smoothly. The AI performs well, and it's currently affordable on Steam.
