Hi everyone. I recently purchased a SDSSDE81-2T00-G25 (link provided) and it has performed well so far. The only hiccup is that when I leave it plugged in but don’t use it for a while, there’s a noticeable delay—about 2 to 10 seconds—before it becomes accessible again. Once it works, it runs smoothly until I stop using it for a while, typically around 30 minutes. Crystaldisk claims the drive health is at 100, which seems fine. However, someone on the videography group on Facebook mentioned a similar drive failed after two weeks, which made me anxious. Since I’m still in Amazon’s return window, I thought it would be wise to ask here first. A few people suggested it might be a recent batch problem, but I’m not sure. I’d prefer a model with a DRAM cache, but I couldn’t confirm if the one I bought has that feature. Any advice or suggestions for faster SSDs with comparable speeds would be appreciated. Thanks!

Have you thought about using a USB 3.1 NVMe case that fits any internal storage device? They’re very affordable: https://www.amazon.com/SSK-Aluminum-Tool...31&sr=8-14 Then you can choose any premium NVMe SSD you like. I prefer my WD SN850X but it could be too much for a simple external drive.

No clear drawbacks noted for daily use. Reading speed isn't significantly impacted by passing through the chassis, and no major bottlenecks are identified.

It's a USB 3.1 Gen2 port with 10GBps, so performance won't match an internal SSD in an M.2 slot. Still, it's just as good as any other external SSD available.
