I’d prefer to wait for the Ryzen 5 5600X to become more accessible before making a switch. This allows you to take advantage of PCI-E 4.0 support on B550 or X570 boards, giving you the top single-core performance available today. Plus, prices for B550 chips have dropped recently, especially when compared to Intel options.

I upgraded from an i7 3770K to a Ryzen 9 3900X on an x570 board roughly six months ago—what a change!

Ryzen 3600 works well without needing extra spending beyond $100 more. The Intel option is solid too, but an AMD upgrade might be cheaper overall—especially if you can find a good deal on the motherboard. Yeah, plenty of cores for the job!

I completely missed the impact, particularly with extensive work in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.

Any of these would be a huge upgrade, but i'd wait for the 5600X to be widely available and pair it with a decent B550 board. Or wait a little more for the 5600 non X to come out, which will be closer to 200-250$. It will come, but we do not yet know when. AMD can't just forget about the market under the 5600X's price range.

For streaming purposes, choose AMD instead of Intel. Intel isn't recommended for this task.

If that waiting time can be 2-3 months, i would wait for 5600 (nonx). AMD probably already have it ready by now, and they probably still waiting for the older 6 cores part to be absorbed as much as possible.

I upgraded from an i5 4570 to a Ryzen 7 2700X about 4 to 5 months ago, which is quite a big jump.
