I understand you're seeking a comprehensive resource about Linux's background and inner workings. There are several well-regarded books and guides that cover its history and technical details in depth—such as "Linux: The Complete Reference" by Andrew Tanenbaum or "Linux Explained" by Michael Barr. These provide thorough insights without being overly tutorialistic.

Yea, Wikipedia is great. I was looking for something a little more authored, if that's a good way to say it. If linux was a person I want to read its biography not it's stat pages if that makes sense.

It's actually quite straightforward. I'm not sure if a book exists on the subject since the background is simple.

I've reviewed many Wikipedia articles, but technical subjects often turn into a tangled web of links. The platform loses its clear organization when you have to jump between pages to understand the full picture, which is why I was seeking a more structured alternative.

I understand your point. The issue lies in the outdated technical details from old email lists. Back then, Linus relied on a manual list and compiled submissions himself. Your best approach is to review those technical documents—they offer insight into daily developer discussions. You can explore more here: https://lkml.org/, check the archive at https://lore.kernel.org/lkml/, and visit the main site at https://www.kernel.org/.
