Are there any compelling horror titles on Steam that focus on psychological tension rather than jump scares? That’s a solid question. Yes, it’s possible to find games where the fear comes from imagination and atmosphere, not just sudden frights. I get it—it can be tricky to put into words—but this is what you’re looking for. Thanks! EDIT: I’m still new to horror games, so don’t worry if I use some confusing terms.

Some think the game is enjoyable mainly because it’s popular as a meme, not due to its actual gameplay. Have you come across this view before? What does the game actually involve?

Alien isolation is great. Alien Colonial Marines is also enjoyable. Resident Evil is my favorite too, especially levels 4 and 5. Doom offers a mix of action and horror. It has a tough difficulty and the first run feels exciting. Fear is always engaging. I also saw another game recently—about escaping a crazy asylum using just a flashlight on a phone. It looked promising but I can't recall the title.

It's been misunderstood. This game is meant to challenge you positively, and it's a great experience that will surprise you in a positive way. You're invited to the club by a childhood friend, and you think, "Wow, these girls are all cute." But I won't spoil anything.

Sure, I reached that section but I’ll keep playing more next time. Doom feels more like a shooter with jump scares, I think. Regarding the RE games, I believed they had jump scares too, though I’m not sure.

Full Horror: Containment breach, amnesia, dark descent, detention, observer role, featuring Fran Bow. I’d rank Fran Bow as having the most detailed narrative among these titles. While I’m cautious about including Inside and Limbo in the horror category, I think both offer strong gameplay with a touch of horror elements.

Dark wood spoiler amnesia refers to a plot twist in the movie, revealing that the main character has no memory of their past.
