I'm planning to enhance my 3700x setup but haven't upgraded much recently. I'm open to checking Intel options if performance matters more. Right now, I have a 1440p display and a 4090 with 32GB RAM. I'm gathering advice and would appreciate suggestions for Mobo or RAM upgrades too. I'm aiming for something reasonable without overspending.

The top value option is a 5800X3D. However, a platform update offers better performance—still very close to the newest models. Could you share your budget? Also, do you have access to a microcenter nearby?

I’m not close to any microcenter. I’m considering purchasing parts gradually, aiming to stay under $1,000. I’m thinking about switching platforms so I don’t need to upgrade again later.

AMD offers a solid cooling solution for your build. The latest gaming CPU stands out as top choice, paired with a dependable motherboard that receives positive feedback. A 32GB RAM module at 6000MHz (EXPO edition for AMD) fits well in this configuration. This combination delivers peak performance for the RTX 4090. I initially selected the 7700X upon launch and intend to upgrade to the 8800X3D next year.

You might want a more powerful CPU cooler to handle the extra heat from your system during warmer months.

The 7800X3D is quite straightforward to cool, and the Peerless Assassin 120SE handles it excellently. It offers 120W TDP compared to my 7700X at 105W TDP, and I manage the cooling with my NH-D15 using a steady fan speed of 30% for quiet operation. Gaming temperatures stay impressively low. As someone who loves aircooling, I also suggest the Noctua NH-D15, Deepcool ASSASSIN IV (the most stylish aircooler), and the be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4. The Peerless Assassin actually beats the NH-D15 in performance. Its exceptional cooling efficiency makes it a top-tier choice. A long video worth watching.

I replaced the thermaltake peerless assassin with a noctua nh-d15s featuring a 5800x, and temperatures stayed the same, though the noctua was quieter.

Sure, I understand. The NH-D15 stands out for its low noise levels. Which color did you receive—black or brown?

I purchased it after the GPU apocalypse began in January 2021. Initially, I wanted a black model, but they were unavailable everywhere, so I ended up getting the brown one.

These models offer stronger components such as dual CCD chips compared to the PA120(SE).
