Hello! I'm seeking suggestions for an unmanaged network switch that fits your needs. You need a device to connect your Ethernet cable from the wall to both your PC and a Raspberry Pi. You want it to handle a 2.5GB connection smoothly without slowing down your main PC, and you're looking for something quiet and silent. Extra ports are nice but not essential. I'm aiming for a budget-friendly option with around 3 to 4 ports, keeping costs low while maintaining decent quality and reliability. Others' opinions would be really helpful!

Inquire and you'll get what you ask for. I have one that performed perfectly. $75 off with the coupon. https://a.co/d/gWZJYcD

Sure, the device is quiet since it's fanless. Its reputation is solid—just stick with what you know works. If you're looking for a more affordable option, I'll consider other suggestions.

It's completely quiet. I wasn't confident about its reputation, but it's a sturdy stamped steel case.

This site provides reliable details about affordable 2.5GbE switches. Your drives should easily manage regular Ethernet speeds and even higher rates.

This PC isn't meant to act like a NAS, so I don't need it to match the performance of a drive. During internet speed tests, I see around 1.8GB per second. I'm trying to avoid slowing things down. I'll look at that link later. Thanks!

It doesn't matter whether your PC is a NAS, server, or gaming unit. Your main aim is to avoid slowing things down. A computer has three key parts: processing, storage, and data transfer (network). You're focusing on making sure data moves quickly so you don't hit a bottleneck. If your network is faster than your storage or processor, your compute won't keep up with the data coming in, and that's where the slowdown will happen. Even with a fast internet connection, if your drive can only handle 5MBs, you'll be limited by that speed, not the network. Real performance comes from balancing all three areas, not just the network.
