Hello. You need to keep using Windows XP for some classic games, but it’s no longer supported and lacks security updates. To protect it, you should apply the latest available updates as soon as possible after activation. For antivirus protection, AVG isn’t ideal due to performance, so BitDefender Free might be a better choice.

If you are using it only for games and such and if you don't have any fb or such passwords saved in there I wouldn't worry too much

It’s not recommended to enable compatibility mode for XP SP3 on Windows 7 or 8 because it can cause conflicts and instability.

They attempt to push a paid solution while malwarebytes free serves as a basic scanner. Real-time defense isn't provided. Third-party firewalls aren't recommended for me.

Execute XP inside a virtual machine? This restricts its internet access. (Or simply skip connecting the Ethernet cable)
