Hello, you're considering securing your Windows 8.1 Pro by choosing encryption tools. BitLocker has known vulnerabilities, so some prefer alternatives like TrueCrypt or VeraCrypt. VeraCrypt is built on TrueCrypt code, which might raise concerns about safety. TrueCrypt itself is not recommended due to security issues. If you're looking for a safer option, VeraCrypt is often considered more reliable and widely trusted.

You're asking about the reason behind needing to encrypt Windows. This is likely related to protecting your system or data from unauthorized access.

BitLocker should not contain any hidden entry points. I’d strongly consider enabling it on the 8.1 Pro version.

I need to protect my notebook because I work as a programmer and share the same device at home after work.

Some board or laptop bios include an encrypt hdd feature. Before enabling it, remember this locks the hardware permanently—if your system fails and you need to move your drive, you won’t be able to access it. The same applies to BitLocker.
