Hey, I see you're looking for a secure way to lock your folders on Windows 10. You can use built-in tools like File Explorer's built-in encryption or third-party utilities such as 7-Zip, which already offers password protection. If you want something more straightforward, consider using Windows' native file protection features or reliable software that simplifies the process.

You don’t need to build anything yourself. There are folder encryption tools available that secure files with a password and also encrypt the contents inside. Check out this top 10 list: https://www.techradar.com/uk/best/best-e...older-lock

I don’t think Windows includes a built-in option for password protection on files. I’m unsure and can’t locate such a method through Google.

I discovered several options that essentially generate a batch file inside the directory, insert your password, and then click on the 'unlock' or 'lock' .bat file. Seems like it’s quite a hassle overall.

Thanks for the clarification. I need to highlight that this is intended for a NAS drive at home.

You can also employ WINRAR to secure a zip archive. Alternatively, consider an encryption tool like NordLocker.

You're currently using 7zip. It seems you're wondering if it has any native Windows features—though it doesn't appear to include any built-in Windows functionality.
