Secure your system from common risks.
I encountered an unexpected situation when helping an older neighbor repair his computer after he fell victim to a tech support fraudster. This isn’t the first time he’s faced issues with malware or scams. I’m considering switching him to Linux Mint so he won’t accidentally install harmful software or executable files—especially since he might not have the right security measures in place. Not sure if that works for someone like Grandma who uses a craft cutter.
Set up a Linux distribution featuring a Windows-inspired aesthetic and finish the task.
Essentially the same idea, just phrased differently. If you're on Windows, I recommend avoiding Kaspersky due to its poor reputation. Better options would be NOD32 or even the free Microsoft Security Essentials. Those fake download buttons really bother me—I'm used to CyberSec from NordVPN and built-in protection from NOD32 to guard against such issues. But I guess it might be too much for this case.
Choose a Linux antivirus, anti-malware, and adblock solution for extra protection.
