Hey everyone! I’m curious about your thoughts on this situation. I own a gigabyte Z370M and remember when BF6 beta launched, I tried turning on secure boot to play it. It caused the motherboard to overheat, so I took it to a technician. She told me the voltage regulators were damaged and replaced all three with higher-voltage models, plus she updated the BIOS. That worked out in the end—I didn’t have the budget for a new unit back then. Now, the game is coming out on October 10th, my birthday, and my friend is trying to pressure me into reactivating secure boot by buying the game for me so we can play together. When I first activated it, I made a mistake. Looking into it later, it seems the product key needs to be entered in user mode, not admin mode—though I’m not sure why that matters. If I don’t follow the right steps, things could go wrong. Also, some BIOS versions had bugs that made this error happen, so the technician’s update might have fixed it or not. So, what do you think? Am I safe to try again now, following the proper steps? Or since it failed once before, maybe it’s best to skip it and get new parts instead? My rig uses 9th-gen Intel, which means a full upgrade (hardware) would be expensive in my country.

Secure boot didn’t damage your VRMs. It seems you might have been tricked. The points you raised aren’t likely to harm a motherboard, but flipping secure boot on an old OS setup will prevent you from launching Windows.

Hello there! You seem to have fallen victim to a scam. It looks like your system might be using an older MBR setup rather than the updated GPT needed for secure boot. Let's fix that together!

Based on my memory, older Gigabyte motherboards require adhering to a particular BIOS setup sequence, which some users have shared on Reddit.

Thanks for the update. For the OS setup, I didn’t switch the OS drive for GPT, but even after removing the SSD, the system wouldn’t boot at all—just the processor, RAM, and GPU were present, yet it didn’t reach BIOS. It should have at least provided a video signal instead of endless loops. Honestly, if this was a scam, I’d appreciate a fix. If I follow the new Windows installation guide on a GPT drive, should that work?

Some discussions mention that enabling this feature might force the IGP to regain access to the PC. Earlier chips may not support it. This update is tied to 1000 series cards. The thread includes various advice on the right order, though I can't recall the exact steps to verify.

It doesn’t matter whether you were scammed or not—it’s already true. You were scammed. As discussed earlier, the presence of UEFI GOP in your graphics card depends on whether it’s a newer model; older cards might lack it. You might need to turn on CSM for your graphics card, and I’m uncertain if the game would handle SB when enabled. You haven’t shared any details about the rest of your system.
