Secret Admin Area.
The router's admin interface works well when your ISP connection is active (PPPoE). Issues appear only when the connection drops, making the page slow or unresponsive across all browsers. Initially, I assumed it was due to network congestion, but switching bands helped once the ISP was back online.
Is this your private network or a service from your internet provider? If the web connection isn’t working, the provider should handle the problem. You shouldn’t be charged for poor service. Also, how do you reach the admin panel when the internet is unavailable?
The Tp-link 840N was purchased personally. How can I reach the admin panel if the internet isn't working? — Sometimes just manually disconnecting and reconnecting, using the provided Isp username and password, works. You'll need to have access to the router's settings.
Which TL-WR840N model do you own? Check for firmware updates for your WR840N version and update via Ethernet to enhance connection.
I purchased that router a few months ago. Your broadband speed seems decent, but I noticed lag when PPPoE was active. Once you're connected, it feels responsive again. Could you clarify what you mean by those terms? Are you referring to performance drops during busy tasks like downloading? That would make sense if your connection is faster than the router's capacity and its CPU gets overwhelmed.
Data speeds are 50Mbps up and 50Mbps down. Should I upgrade my router? Thanks for reading my post—I’m not sure how to explain it. It’s unexpected for me too. To reach the admin page, I type 192.168.0.1 or tplinkwifi.net, right? There you’ll find options like guest net, band control, etc. If I’m correct, 192.168.0.1 is saved on routers and not hosted by TPLINK. Now the issue arises: when connected to my ISP everything works smoothly... but when offline or after removing the RJ45 cable, accessing that page feels very slow. That’s confusing... I’m thinking about buying a new router. But I need to improve my understanding. No pressure!
