Searching for tools to track your Ubuntu server!
I rely on a tool named Servers Alive by Woodstone: http://www.woodstone.nu/salive/. It's a solid option. Offers a free version supporting up to 10 monitors—perfect for initial testing. If you need more, it's reasonably affordable considering the capabilities it provides. You can integrate it into a website using its own language, making dashboard creation straightforward for alerts like test failures. I’ve simplified the layout by removing much of the page in a production setting, which gives a clear sense of its appearance. It supports SMTP, SNMP traps, IM (Jabber and Gtalk) notifications, and more. By default, it can monitor various systems, but you can script checks for items that aren’t automatically tracked. From the screenshots on the site, it seems less detailed compared to other platforms, possibly better suited for Windows environments, though it’s worth exploring further.
For monitoring Windows servers with Centreon or Nagios, you can install a plugin that avoids using SNMP on those systems.
