Searching for tools that automate backups on Windows 10.
I recently purchased a 5 TB USB external HDD and plan to use it for backups. I’m concerned about remembering to back up regularly if I have to do it manually. Do you know any reliable backup software that can create local, automated, differential backups for specific folders to an external drive? It should work with Windows, not cloud services. I’m not interested in cloud solutions since I already use them for important files. This is mainly for other things like game saves and rich media.
It supports integrated File History. EaseUS Todo offers good value for the cost.
The backups function beyond Windows 10 environments. You can set up a scheduled task to mirror your local files, regardless of the operating system. Even if your main computer fails, plugging in a USB drive should allow your laptop to access the backup data. File History isn’t limited to just the host OS—it’s designed to preserve your entire local storage.
File History stores the most recent files in the same folder layout, capturing changes between versions. Each file and folder is compressed using NTFS. This allows you to retrieve previous versions by matching the original structure on your PC. Backups can be saved to either an external drive or a network location, and Windows 10 File History works with both options.
