Although not the most appealing, The COD Series and its SP narrative have always offered a decent experience. Even if you dislike COD, it's a good option for a casual afternoon session. & SP doesn’t feature any distracting keyboard warriors to irritate you. Red Faction 3 SP was also enjoyable. It’s a more recent release—I’d prefer FarCry3.
I haven't played Hard Reset, so I don't know its quality. Arma III offered decent SP and was enjoyable. I believe Operation Flashpoint SP is no longer the best story in its genre, but it's still better than most games today. Another title that came to mind was Singularity.
It was a standout experience, highly praised and often overlooked.
