A reliable 750W power supply is essential, Corsair recommends eVGA or Seasonic as top choices, though I’m uncertain about prices in Australia.

A number around 650 works well.

I have an 800W silent Pro Gold in my current PC, and I was thinking about using it to power a lower-grade PSU for my existing system.

You likely don’t require a very powerful PSU because you’re not pushing your processor beyond its limits. A 650W should suffice. I agree with that—my setup uses 2700K running at 4.8 GHz and 980 Ti, which handles it fine. My 1080 Ti struggles a bit (especially at 1080p), so upgrading there would help. Also, consider fast DDR3 RAM (1866MHz or higher). I was thinking about switching from my 2700K (which I’ve had since 2013) after getting a job, but then the pandemic hit and I lost my position.

The i7 2600k comes with a built-in motherboard and RAM that’s DDR3 at 2400MHz. I plan to upgrade the CPU by overclocking it.
