I just received a $20 Steam gift card from our company's Christmas party. I'm not sure which games to choose, so I'm asking for your recommendations. Here are some titles I've heard good things about: Assassin's Creed series, The Witcher 2 and 3, Borderlands 1 and 2, Life is Strange 1 and 2, NFS: Underground 1 and 2 (back in the day), Batman Arkham series, Saint's Row series. I'm not really into multiplayer games except for competitive ones like Dota 2 and Overwatch. Co-op multiplayer works too. And I don't like Undertale.

You can visit Steam for the Winter promotions starting at the end of December and find excellent discounts. If not, consider checking out Far Cry 4 Gold Edition for $14.99 or Far Cry 3 for $6.79—both are solid offers. The company of heroes 2 is currently free on Steam, so grab it. The Assassin's Creed series is also on sale; take advantage of those too. Just wait for the Winter deals if you're looking for really good games at low prices.

As discussed by @MintyMinh, the optimal time to start using Steam is around two weeks before the Christmas sale begins on December 20. I plan to check this thread on that date to highlight the best offers. If you need to use it immediately, your options will be limited to deals available only on Steam. Valley costs $1.99 and Furi is $5.99. The only worthwhile recommendations at the moment are Far Cry 2 Fortunes Edition for $3.99, though I’d only suggest it if you haven’t played it before. It’s a great game that runs smoothly at 144 fps in 1440p.
