I own an old HTC Vive, but it's been a while since it was released and lately I'm getting tired of the low resolution and the lines. The quality of the class or screen isn't clear to me.
I'm searching for the highest resolution or best display where I won't see any of those issues—just the game itself.
I feel this might not be the right spot, but I couldn't find any VR options there.

they mentioned the new Occulus Rift is good. I'm not entirely sure about it.

The valve index represents the top choice, or the vive pro. It will be around 1000$ though.

Valve Index VR headset offers 1440x1600 per eye resolution, with frame rates between 120 and 144 Hz and a viewing angle of 130 degrees. The price for the headset alone is around $500, which applies to users who already own base stations and controllers from their Vive. If you already have those, the cost jumps to about $750 for the headset plus controllers. The Index version is also more affordable than the Vive Pro II. For those prioritizing color accuracy, the Vive Pro is recommended; otherwise, the Valve Index is a solid alternative. Ensure your PC can handle 2880x1440p at 120 Hz.

I saw a review some time back. They mentioned they updated the sensors, making it more sensitive to spatial positioning. I don’t know much about the image quality, but it seems like they offered either 1440p or 4K.

I have a 980 Ti and it should function properly. I'm holding off until the next generation to upgrade. I believe I can get it working. Honestly, I'm aiming for the best price possible. No more those unclear displays. I need almost flawless graphics.

Sure, it looks like you're planning to be okay for another year. Most VR systems support SLI, but you might be able to sell your 980 Ti models for a 1080 if they're not needed anymore.

The top choice would be:
HP Reverb WIndows Mixed Reality (2160x2160, 90hz, 110 degree FOV) or
Pimax 8KX (3840x2160 per eye, 75hz @ native 4k [90hz if upscaled from 2560x1440], 200 degree fov)
Valve Lighthouse based headset.
Beyond that:
Pimax
8K+ 3840x2160 per eye, 90hz always upscaling from 2560x1440 signal, 200 degree fov)
5K+ 2560x1440 per eye, up to 120 hz in beta at 90hz normal, 200 degree fov
5K XR 2560 x 1440 per eye, 85-88 hz OLED panel for better colour, 200 degree FOV
Valve Index would also be a solid pick if you're in a region that supports ordering
A 980ti is likely to face challenges with many games on those devices. You'll probably need at least a 1080ti/2080, and even that may not perform consistently.
You might manage with it running at 2560x1440 though.
Hopefully next-gen graphics cards will offer more affordable pricing than the 2080 ti
