I’ve never tried overclocking before, but I’m interested in doing it.
Here’s what I have:
Processor: i7 4790k @ 4.00 GHz
Motherboard: GA-G1.SNIPER Z97 ATX LGA1150
Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-2133
GPU: MSI - GeForce GTX 970 4GB 100 Million Edition
PSU: Corsair - RM 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX
I’m not very familiar with the technical side of overclocking, but I want to understand what’s possible with this setup. Are there any tools or instructions I can use to try pushing my parts? I just want to know how much I can really get out of them.

If you respond to this post, try to explain it in simple language. Thanks.
You can do the overclock directly in your BIOS settings—results will vary depending on the chips you have.
Check out this video for a basic idea: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=up0sZl26ei4
Also, a top-tier cooling solution is essential since temperatures tend to rise with higher overclocks.

You must manage CPU speed through multiplier or FSB, along with voltage control. Increasing speed by 10% raises workload, requiring 10% more cooling. Boosting voltage by 20% adds heat, and if speed also increases by 20%, cooling needs rise to 44%. For optimal performance, begin with the highest available cooling while keeping voltage and temperature within safe bounds. Intel’s CPU specifications outline these limits, making them a reliable starting point.
