I've been searching for a suitable game based on several key points: it should be playable over long periods—days, weeks, or even months—and ideally span an entire semester. It needs to be easy to pick up and learn quickly. The game should be easily saved and have an appealing design. It shouldn't feel too vague; Fallout works, but No Man's Sky doesn't. Avoid AAA multiplayer shooters online—those aren't the right fit here. I'm open to any type of game and will explore all options. Any suggestions anyone has?

Life is Strange Dungeon Siege II Portal 1 & 2 series combines elements from Half Life 2, Episodes 1 and 2, with a focus on the Portal 1 mechanics.

Your friends appear really focused on RimWorld. You might want to check out how it looks and decide if it interests you.

It could work for Skyrim. The visuals are decent, but adding mods would make them even better.

I've been enjoying From the Depths for six months. It's available on Steam for $20. The variety of gameplay modes keeps me engaged, especially when I want something different—like switching to vehicle design, adventure, or exploring another planet during my campaign.

I just picked up Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor GOTY Edition for $7 on Steam. Seems pretty good so far. The reviews are great and the graphics are impressive. With all the DLC included it should keep you occupied for quite some time. And you can't beat the price right now.

Rim World seems enjoyable, yet I've spent too much time on Prison Architect to move past it. Witcher 3 is a winner.
