The guide covers most of the topic. I'm limited by my funds, so I'm reaching out to more experienced tech users for recommendations on affordable CPUs and motherboards. I'm open to any good options, even if they're not perfect. It's frustrating having to save money, but my dad isn't willing to help. Thanks ahead!

It's mainly a general-purpose computer for gaming and browsing the web. I'm not constructing a full system right now; I'm mainly searching for affordable motherboards and CPUs so I can assemble one later. I'll handle the rest when I'm ready. Right now, I'm just trying to locate motherboards and CPUs within a budget of around 150$ CAD. I'm okay with a bit more than that, but I'm very budget-conscious. Let me know if this helps!

It's wise to consider the time of purchase since prices fluctuate greatly in the PC market. Unless you're buying used, you might catch a great deal if you spot one.

That is a budget best suited for the used market, right now anything worthwhile buying that is new costs $130 just on the CPU side, never mind a motherboard. Look for a used quad core i5/i7 with a motherboard and integrated graphics that would be your best bet.

I’d be concerned about an older i5/i7 if it’s quad-core, especially since hyper-threading would help. Higher boost clocks are nice, but they’re not the main issue here.

I discovered some really great stuff recently. I came across an optiplex with a 960 or 970, but I forgot it. My mom was selling it for $20 all together. I ended up giving the card to someone.
