The built-in VPN in Opera may not provide enough protection.

I use ProtonVPN too, but I’m not sure what benefit the calendar offers because it’s available to everyone.

Mullvad VPN could be a strong choice for those prioritizing privacy. Pairing it with Tor might work, though it will significantly slow down your internet speed. You’ll be drawn to Mullvad only when you need a VPN for privacy, as most providers fall short in this area. I doubt Mullvad is ideal if you want to reach foreign media. You might also explore building your own secure setup using WireGuard and a trusted VPS in the desired country—though this demands some effort to configure and maintain.

AirVPN is a solid choice. Their connection speeds are quite reliable. Here’s the result of an Internet speed test using an AirVPN server.

I suggest using Mullvad VPN, it's been reliable for a long time and performs well. It doesn’t have many advanced features, but it follows a pay-as-you-go approach and claims strong privacy protection. I haven’t checked their servers directly, but based on what I know they seem trustworthy. The cost is just 5 euros for 30 days, making it a solid choice if you want better security and privacy. (Disclaimer, I don’t support privateering) Plus, the connection speed is also good.

I only use Mullvad and I actually pay $10 each month with cash in an envelope. https://mullvad.net/en/pricing/ It’s really secure.

Consider Mullvad for secure browsing. Avoid using regular browsers or VPNs.

The restrictions on foreign media are due to licensing agreements and regional content policies. You’re using it for personal use, so access is limited by those terms.
