Hello everyone
I’m looking for a laptop to use for programming school. I don’t currently have any PC.
I’d like to wait until the next generation of 5nm Nvidia cards and AMD Zen 4 or Intel Raptor Lake arrive.
I need something by September.
I prefer Windows, and I want something affordable.
An OLED display would be nice – I’ve always wanted one, and since I don’t plan to keep this long, it’s not a big issue.
At the moment, the cheapest option in Hungary was:
ASUS VivoBook Pro 14 M3401QC
It has a 2.8k 90hz OLED screen with 600nit brightness – seems fine.
I’d like a larger screen, but the 16" model is much more expensive here.
The Ryzen 7 5800H is available; Intel is just as good, but this appears to be the best value for the price since the Intel version is only 4 cores and isn’t cheaper.
It has 16GB DDR4 at 3200MHz, a 512GB SSD, and an RTX 3050 (any dedicated GPU works).
For around 359,900 HUF
I’m not sure how well built the Vivobooks are – I’ve never owned one before.
Thanks for your help.

The vivobook line appears to be well-constructed and offers a reasonable price. I considered the laptop with an OLED display for some time but ultimately chose the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro. This model also features an Intel processor, a 15-inch version that supports Thunderbolt, though it only comes with the i7 11700h which has just four cores. It includes the i5 11400h as well, which is faster than the i7, offering six cores instead.

Unfortunately, only the Intel Core i5-11300H model is in stock
😢
It also features 4 cores

Is it certain that your coding institution employs Windows? In most European university-level computer science courses, Linux is the standard operating system.

It's not an issue at all. You can simply set up Linux on another drive or partition, or use a virtual machine to install it.

The laptop suits your requirements. If you provide some links, I can attempt to locate a more suitable option.
