ASRock Extreme 4 seems quite appealing at a price under $300. I've used other ASRock boards before and they performed well. The Taichi model is pricier, but it might be discounted later.
I have the Gigabyte X570 Gaming X with a Ryzen 3700x, works perfectly fine for me at a great price.
I really like it, pairing it with a 2070 Super makes it unbeatable against anything I throw at it. It's mainly used for game development—Unreal Engine, 3D tools—and some titles like Destiny 2 and Rocket League. I haven't modified it in the BIOS; just using Ryzen Master, and I managed to push it up to 4.2 GHz.
Have a MSI X570 MEG ACE and so far it's been good. The ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming X is another that's good too and one of the cheapest X570 boards with a good VRM setup out there, same as the Aqua in fact and the Tachi line is pretty good too. Biggest thing to consider is what features you are looking for. Be sure whatever you get has what you want/need because once you buy it, it's yours. EDIT: I know the ones I named are over $300 and I'll admit I missed that limitation in the opening post. The X570 Tachi is right at $300 and as long as it has all the features you need it's probrably the one to go for. ASRock in recent times has come up in quality, the one I'm running now (X470 Tachi Ultimate) has been absolutely great - 0 problems to mention about it. Edited January 4, 2020 by Beerzerker
It seems I overlooked the mention of the price limit. AsRock continues to offer top-tier motherboards within that budget. If 300 isn’t right, look at their options in the nearby price range.
