I selected the 3600X to get the spire cooler for my brother’s R7 1700 setup, which has a basic stock heatsink. I’m planning to use Scythe Katana 5 and it includes extra auto-overclocking capabilities. Does this feature require a particular chipset? More importantly, I need an ATX board that pairs well with this CPU and supports a black/white theme with RGB lighting—just the theme, not the lights themselves.

I’d choose a highly rated B450 or X470 motherboard. The X570 becomes useful only after you reach the 3900x.

Here are my top picks from the PCPP reviews: MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX stands out, ASRock X470 Master SLI/AC offers solid performance, ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Plus delivers great features, and the ASUS Prime X470-Pro is a strong contender. Let me know if you need more details on any of them.

From what I know, the B450 Tomahawk is usually regarded as the top choice for a B450 MMO. I’d pick that one.

Many users complain about issues with the board not working well with the Ryzen 3000. These concerns mostly come from older reviews, likely from July. If you require a BIOS update, let me know how I’d handle it.

I haven't updated a bios before, so I'm curious about the process.

You simply obtain the BIOS files from the motherboard manufacturer’s site, place them onto a correctly formatted USB flash drive, and then select the option to update the BIOS within your system settings.

Some good boards offer solid power delivery such as the MSI B450 Tomahawk. To update the BIOS, download it and insert it onto a USB thumb drive following the instructions in the owner's manual. Connect the power supply to the motherboard and use the thumb drive in the correct USB port as specified in the manual. Other MSI models also support this process, but you may need a second-generation Ryzen processor for the update.
