Searching for a suitable Linux distribution.
I recently chose to try dual booting my system so I can experiment with both Linux and Windows. I’m familiar with the basics of Linux, especially Ubuntu, but I’m seeking a distribution that’s user-friendly for Steam play and Proton integration. I noticed Ubuntu MATE is marketed for this, but I’m curious about its performance with Steam and the setup process. Essentially, I want to know how straightforward it is to configure Ubuntu MATE for Steam play and Proton. If it doesn’t seem worth the effort or is simpler on other distros, please let me know. And yes, I’ve already seen Linus’s video on Linux gaming—both the older and updated versions.
Could you tell me more about your computer's specifications?
I've worked with Ubuntu-based systems before. It seems I should have mentioned ElementaryOS and xubuntu. This is just my personal taste, though I don't really enjoy the Ubuntu interface.
I own a 250GB M.2 NVMe SSD for booting, a 500GB SATA SSD for gaming, a 1TB WD Blue 1TB drive spinning at 7200RPM, a 1TB Seagate BarraCuda 7200RPM drive, an R5 processor boosted to 3.8 GHz with 16GB RAM and 3000MHz, a Corsair Vengeance LPX MSI B350M gaming motherboard, a GTX 1060 graphics card, an EVGA 550G3 power supply.
You can obtain a theme pack and tailor it. Flat remix is suggested—it really helps. https://github.com/daniruiz/flat-remix/b.../README.md
