Budget is very limited with only £50 available. I already have all the necessary parts from previous builds for the motherboard and case. Delivery in the UK is preferred. I’m okay with an Intel i5 6600 processor, 2x4GB DDR4 at 2133mhz, and a R9 390 GPU. Just need some guidance on affordable options that fit these specs.
There could be some H110/H110M boards available, either new or older stock, but they’re likely to be low-quality DS3H models. The best option is to check eBay UK for first or second-gen LGA 1151 boards in good condition. The processor matters less if it’s an i5-6600, as long as it has a three-digit chipset starting with 1 or 2. It should be easy to find a decent H110M board with proper heatsink cooling for around 50 GBP, especially without a backplate.
It's not about how much the motherboard cares—it's about durability. Many low-quality boards lack proper chipset cooling and use subpar VRMs just to boost power delivery noise. This can be reduced with a cooler that directs air downward, such as Intel’s standard model. While heatsinks are ideal, you might find them on second-hand boards at eBay.
