I'm searching for a solid Wi-Fi configuration. My old wavelink antenna started deteriorating after about a year, especially with the plastic parts of the 5G and 2G models breaking down. Now I own this new antenna, but my garage and my grandma's house are roughly 300 to 400 feet apart. I need a setup that can support many devices simultaneously—around 7 TVs, 4 phones, one laptop, two or three Google Chrome browsers, and possibly a few more. I'm considering a Reolink Poe switch with eight ports, a gigabit uplink port for the gaming rigs and PS5, and maybe a TV or two. Ideally, everything should work together seamlessly, especially using Poe for another antenna connection.

Additionally, a gateway with a simple VPN setup would be great since I’m willing to spend money but only use it on my phone.

The main concern is your budget, your willingness to shop for used components, and your familiarity with networking. I mention this because I can suggest a $100k networking solution designed for large enterprises—typically 2 to 8 devices per 100 square feet. I wouldn’t expect anyone to consider that practical. However, if you lack strong expertise with Ruckus, Cisco, or Juniper equipment, all advice will fall short. On the flip side, if you’re open to used gear and ready to invest a bit of time, you can achieve solid value for your needs.

I have a modem from an internet provider that connects to a gateway, then to a 5 or 7-year-old Netgear router. The router is in a spot with many devices and is causing slow speeds. I’m looking for something durable that lasts, without cutting corners. My grandmother’s house is made of brick, my own uses drywall and wood, and the garage is similar. The signal range is between 350 to 400 feet. My house sits at the bottom of the y-axis, with the grandma side on the left and the garage on the right. Side note: both areas are about the same distance from the house. Thanks for your help!
