Hey everyone, I've been experimenting with a few methods but mostly focus on setting up a home server for my family. Most users have Android phones or tablets, or Windows 8.1. I've tried Windows 7 and 8.1, sharing drives for access, but the main issue is consistently connecting to the server. Windows attempts to fix it but often fails. Once it works, everything runs smoothly and quickly. The server is dedicated to storing large files like photos and music, which my family uses because their PCs have limited storage. Anyone else have a good solution for a simple home server setup? Thanks, Markes12344

Could be a Windows Home Server OS version. Also, consider unlocking your router to enable access; look for helpful guides on securing it.

Consider adding the setup first, then installing the ASUS RT-N66U using the default IP 192.168.1.1. After that, connect the ASUS RT-AC66U in your room, linking it to the router at 192.168.2.1.

Debian is the choice. Let's stick with it.
