You're seeking a replacement router, currently using a Netgear R6400 from 2015 that's experiencing Wi-Fi instability. The problem seems to occur during video calls or when streaming, possibly due to interference or network congestion. It's not typical behavior for a device with similar usage patterns in the past. Any advice would be valuable.
It affects the entire system. Our phones, the laptop, the Chromecast, and her work PC all operate on the 5GHz frequency. Her work PC runs on the 2.5GHz band.
Consider checking out the TP-Link devices; they offer various options and are generally reliable.
Have you checked for firmware updates? It’s possible the issue is a bug that could be resolved. Personally, my Synology RT2600AC has performed very well. They may have a newer version with WiFi 6 support, which could be worth exploring.
