Hey everyone, I'm trying to find a new router for this Black Friday deal and I'm finding it really tough to choose from all the options. I've never seen so many conflicting reviews on Amazon. I'm hoping you can help me out with some recommendations around $100 or less for a space about 1,000 square feet.

Which connection method are you using: fiber via GPON router or copper through a cable modem?

This one is on sale for Black Friday at $75. I've had multiple TP-Link routers and they've all been great. Limited-time deal: TP-Link WiFi 6 Router AX1800 Smart WiFi Router (Archer AX21) – Dual Band Gigabit Router, Works with Alexa - A Certified for Humans Device https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08H8ZLKKK/ref...HJZPPGPXPJ

If you haven’t upgraded your modem and aren’t aiming for fiber soon, start with the lowest budget option. Seek a DOCSIS 3.1 modem that includes reliable LAN ports, then connect it to a compact AP—like the setup @Chris Pratt highlighted.

I understand the situation from the original post, though I’m not very familiar with networking topics. It seems like in my area they only offer a limited selection of modems and don’t let users install their own devices. From what I gather, they mainly supply an Arris TG2482 (Docsis 3.0), which is the only option available at the moment.

Many DOCSIS 3.1 modems are expected to cost over $130, with most staying between $100 and $200. If you have a package unit (modem/router/AP/switch), adding a separate router means you must either route the ISP device through your setup or turn off NAT on your new router and disable WiFi on their equipment.
