I once loved WoW but had to stop because of work. Returned a few years later and really disliked it. Attempted to jump into LotR and Elder Scrolls, but they seem too relaxed for me. I don’t see any good options left right now.
ArcheAge stands out as a strong choice, while Trion feels like a bunch of broken pieces after Comcast's acquisition. Customer support is lacking, and the game relies heavily on pay-to-win mechanics. However, ArcheAge delivers engaging combat if you can overcome the p2w hurdles.
I believe Tera stands out as one of the least enjoyable MMOs ever created. If I'm looking for a combat-focused experience, Vindictus might be my choice—but it feels outdated now.

Also, for the person joining in, if you're only interested in the PvE, World of Warcraft's endgame is unmatched. PvP isn't great, though. Grand Theft Auto 2's version was okay when it first came out but has declined significantly since. Final Fantasy XIV didn't include PvP until much later.
The game came out early. The servers lagged significantly... Haha. I enjoyed the experience, reached level 75 and then stopped playing.
