Searching for a fast Wi-Fi adapter capable of delivering 300 Mbps connections.
Hey there, I'm almost done with my first PC build. I need a Wi-Fi adapter—something that fits in the room but keeps things tidy. At first, I thought about USB adapters because I wanted something compact and without visible antennas. Then I found this product on Ebuyer: Intel Dual Band Wireless AC Adapter. It looks great inside the PC, but I’m not sure it works with my motherboard yet. I checked compatibility and it seems it actually requires antennas. Since I’m a Virgin Media customer and my MacBook handles 300 Mbps, I’m looking for something affordable and super small. Any suggestions would be helpful!
It should fit. Likely it will function effectively. Without built-in antennas, signal transmission and reception are limited. You may receive only a weak signal—perhaps just a few volts—while speeds remain very low. Consider alternatives like the ones listed: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/tTdqqs/...-gcwb867di, https://pcpartpicker.com/product/6Zs8TW/...-ac55bt-b1 or https://pcpartpicker.com/product/tj2rxr/...6210100pas. You could also conceal the antennas behind or away from the device.
Thanks for the input. I'd rather avoid choosing a network card if possible because I'm really drawn to positioning my GPU vertically, which would block the back ports. Would this setup include a decent built-in antenna to achieve the speeds I expect? https://www.ebuyer.com/706298-asus-usb-a...e-usb-ac51 It uses the same 802.11ac standard as my MacBook, which can reach high speeds, though it might not have strong antenna signals.
It's limited to 433Mbps under 802.11AC, so real speeds might be around 150Mbps at best. Wireless performance drops when it switches between sending and receiving simultaneously, and lab tests show the highest speeds possible. For a chance to reach 300Mbps, consider this option: https://www.ebuyer.com/704505-netgear-ac...210-100pes
Yeah, you're either tiny and not great or huge but not impressive. Also, just a note—remember what people say!
I own a Netgear a6210 for nearly a year now. It has performed excellently so far. Remember that each home is unique. I also use a Nighthawk 6700 in a smaller house.
