I recently bought an MSI h110i thinking it would fit my i5-9400, but it didn’t work. These software restrictions keep popping up because companies seem to be being sneaky. I’m now searching for a budget mini-itx 300 series board around $50 to $60, possibly up to $70, whether used or refurbished. I understand they’re available, but finding the right one is really frustrating. (Only US shipping is offered.)
You might consider cutting corners, but it’s unlikely to find it under $100. Newegg on eBay lists a H310 board around $80 with shipping.
It remains at $50, which is still reasonable. I've purchased many items from that seller, and the only issue was one defective unit that was labeled as non-functional—it turned out to be faulty. Everything else has performed well, even those marked as defective. They deliver quickly and provide good packaging, making me confident in their service. It might be a bit pricey for what you need, but if you manage to get it for $70–90 with shipping included, it's definitely a solid offer.
I'm planning to take the chance, I'll try one of those free shooting sites, hehe.
