Hi, I'm looking to assemble a new PC around a Ryzen 5000 CPU. I need to choose a MOBO that offers two 16-pin PCIe slots connected to the CPU in an 8+8 layout. My goal is to run a second GPU for background tasks while gaming, without relying on SLI or CF for power sharing. I’m okay with standard B550 storage options and don’t mind extra x570 fast drives. Based on what I see, only the STRIX E Gaming MOBO fits this setup. The x570 boards are usually about 75 PLN more (around 25$) than other options, except for ASUS PRO models which are similar in price. The alternatives like Taichi, AORUS ULTRA, MSI UNIFY, AORUS PRO, and STRIX F GAMING are close but not quite the right match. My priority is a solid BIOS for future overclocking. Let me know, MZ PS. to achieve an x8/x8 setup you generally need to consider SLI compatibility first, meaning you're likely evaluating boards that support SLI even if it wasn't your main goal. For boosting performance, MSI offers the most flexibility with varied memory setups rather than sticking to standard configurations like 2x8GB and 2x16GB, as their boards often perform better in those scenarios. From a BIOS perspective, Asus and MSI stand out, while Gigabyte and ASRock sometimes lack clear options. For instance, the FCLK setting in Gigabyte's BIOS isn't labeled for CPU or memory overclocking but relates to AMD CBS -> XFR Enhancement instead.
These models don't include SLI support, but they offer an x8/x8 combo option.
They might prefer not to disrupt the segmentation process. If B550 with SLI appears unexpectedly, it could reduce the volume of the X570... Also, SLI isn't popular among gamers, and if you're investing in a workstation that truly needs it, these boards aren't the right choice for you (at least my take is).
Back then Taichi and Master were $300 boards, meaning they wouldn't beat X570 in those who value SLI. Even now they're not cheaper than SLI-enabled x570 parts. Vision D feels more like a half workstation, so its overclocking power is... limited. It's more like an Aorus Pro instead of the Master.
