alright, so i recently upgraded my switch to a Juniper EX 3400. mostly to get myself familliar with junos, but also because i love the looks and it's a beast! anyway, i now face a challenge. my previous switch (HP Aruba 2350-48G) was uplinked to my router (Mikrotik RB2011-UiAS-RM) with a 10G DAC cable i flashed to a 1G config. but now with the new Juniper, there are no 1G configs available, so i guess now is as good a time as any to make the switch to proper 10G. so yeah, i want a new router to replace the Mikrotik. - needs to be a 1U rackmount - needs to have at least 1 SFP+ port - big + if it is silent, or if it can take some noctuas atleast. - don't like ubiiquity, please don't recommend those. no further requirements, anything goes! (as long as i don't have to sell a lung to afford it.) any ideas?

Instead of a single standard, you could use 1G SFP for simplicity. The dual-speed ports switch between 1G and 10G based on the SFP type.

That's the issue I mentioned earlier. I use flexoptics SFP (DAC in this case), which are not tied to any specific vendor and can be programmed accordingly. However, the Juniper EX only supports 10G speeds. In short, I'm leveraging this as a reason to achieve 10G in my home network.

Sure, I understand. You mentioned you thought it was set to 1G, but I wasn't entirely sure. Any chance you could get more than 10G would be great. From what I found, any 1RU router with a 10G port tends to be a bit higher than the budget unless I overlooked something. You might want to consider checking pfSense, Untangle, or OpenSense instead, or just purchase a few new SFPs now.

RB4011iGS+RM seems to match the ticket, though it doesn't quite fit a 1U with rackmount setup. I'm still open to alternative recommendations, especially if I consider brands other than Mikrotik for this time.

That sparked an idea about using a small 1RU server with pfSense or similar for virtual or white-box setups.
