Searching for a 1Gbps Ethernet adapter.
I possess a 1Gbps network setup, while my Mac runs at 900Mbps via Ethernet. Another laptop works better on Wi-Fi at around 400Mbps, but its adapter struggles between 300-350Mbps. I've tested the adapter on my Mac and it performs as expected, so it seems the issue lies with the port or cable. I'm seeking a recommendation from others who have used adapters claiming to support 900Mbps, preferably USB 3.0 or USB-C. My purchase is from Amazon Italy, and my speed test data comes from Ookla's site. I confirmed using a USB 3.0 connection.
Yeah, I understand why I kept trying in the Mac and still got the same speed. It seems like it's probably a 2.0 model instead of a 3.0. Everyone's reviews are mixed—some say it works, others say it doesn't. If someone tried it, I'd be sure to give it another shot.
The device connects via a 3.0 port, likely using an adapter with a 2.0 interface.
Make sure it's not a software problem. Run iperf on your local network to check for configuration issues.
