I really don’t want to ask this, but I haven’t purchased an OS in years—I’m a nix user and feel completely out of the loop. I need a Win10 product key, can download my own ISO for the 64-bit Pro edition. I searched online because I remember this might have been discussed before, but I’m sure I missed it. Could you help me find the right place? USA/english.

To ensure full legal compliance, purchasing a retail license costs over $100. Additionally, there are numerous gray market OEM keys available for around $20 on platforms such as Kinguin.

As a student, if your school or department has a deal with Windows, you can access genuine full versions of most Windows programs at no cost. The original name was DreamSpark, but it has now been renamed to Imagine. There’s no distinction between getting the software through Imagine (DreamSpark) versus purchasing directly from Windows—except for cost. The product key remains valid forever and provides complete support.

It works, though the gray market keys resemble those extra items sold alongside products labeled "not for resale." A business accumulated too many keys, and the leftover stock appears at low prices, often costing just a few dollars to twenty.

If it doesn't work, you can always request a refund from eBay. As long as you choose a reputable seller, that should be okay.

They’re not officially authorized sellers, which is why they need to buy a Windows license for over $100. The price matches what authorized resellers charge.
