The problem lies in the fact that the internet only reaches your home from a single point, leaving no room for additional routers.

I addressed the poor Wi-Fi in my current rental by contacting a sales rep at my mobile provider. I described my situation and explained that I couldn't install anything due to being a tenant. The rep, familiar with the store, recommended an unlimited data SIM card and suggested connecting other devices directly from it because they offered tethering. Since I haven’t been heavily throttled, the solution has worked well for me without significantly affecting my tablet’s performance. I typically use about 400-500GB monthly. This method keeps battery life stable on my devices but means tethered connections will drain power faster. The devices I connect to must support Wi-Fi, which is manageable. It’s a temporary fix that should last until late 2019. If you’re curious about the cost of the unlimited SIM, it’s £25 per month, though US plans seem more expensive.

Due to my location, I’m restricted to using only Verizon or AT&T, the main carriers available there. No other providers serve my area. Unlimited data would cost around $70 USD each month, which exceeds my budget.

This way I'd receive a superior router or maybe a Wi-Fi extender/booster.
