The router is located in the farthest part of the house, making Wi-Fi performance poor there. On my phone it works fine, but on my PC it’s very difficult to connect. I’m looking for alternatives to link my PC to the internet without running long cables or using Ethernet. I don’t want to install wires inside the house or go outside entirely. There’s only one router port available, so moving it isn’t feasible. Powerline adapters are an option but they’re costly. I’m hoping for a budget-friendly and simple solution that gives me decent speed without needing my PC in the living room.
You might consider a desk or table with wheels... Powerline adapters usually aren’t great in my limited experience, but they could work if you’re prepared to spend money testing them. It really depends on the wiring in your home’s layout and quality. You could also try a budget extender/repeater. Alternatively, since your phone seems fine, you might switch to a different Wi-Fi card, dongle, or adapter for your PC.
I've never managed to get any power line adapter working. It's not worth the effort. For non-competitive gaming, a repeater might help but adds a bit of delay. It won't impact regular use. In competitive play you'll see the difference. If not, consider buying a better router with beam shaping or using an aluminum can.
They appear to cost between sixty and one hundred dollars in the United States.
