What makes a layout good? Most B550 boards now include at least one header for type A and one for type C. The only exceptions are certain models like the Asus Strix B550-F and -A, since you don’t always need full features to join the community of gamers.
USB-C and USB 3.1 headers are centrally located on the right side, making them convenient to reach. Few boards combine both features, but the Steel Legend mATX version includes two USB 3.1 ports, requiring an adapter for C. I’m aiming for a price under 200€ (maximum). The ASRock B550 Steel Legend offers a solid layout. For my setup, I need two fans below the GPU; the existing header is cramped and misaligned in the bottom-right corner. The MSI MAG B550M Mortar and ASUS ROG Strix B550-E also look viable, though the latter is slightly over budget. One concern with the Steel Legend is its second PCIe M.2 slot (confirm if correct). Is it still a strong option for a 5800X build?
I could also mention installing a 360 AiO at the front. The three front fans would go on the top and back sides to brighten the enclosure (likely just white). That would bring in five fans plus the triple radiator.
