I bought a preassembled unit from CyberPowerPC and wanted to upgrade to 16 GB RAM. While searching online, I found similar parts but with varying CAS latency values. Would these differences affect compatibility between the two modules, or should I just install the one I found? My current RAM is a GeIL EVO Potenza 8 GB with 3000mhz CL18 timings and 18-20-20-38 speeds. The one I discovered is CL16. Is my existing RAM still usable, or is it no longer available?
It could lead to complications and might not function properly. If it did work, both options would be scheduled for the less favorable days—18, 20, and 20.
Probably an OEM memory stick not available for sale online. If you need one, try purchasing the most affordable 3000 stick you can find—it’s unlikely it will have inferior timing compared to what you currently use.
Maybe they could collaborate by placing the slower RAM in the main port. However, I wouldn't rely on that.
